2. BECOME A MEMBER OF THE LOBBY

Did you know that even though you receive this update from the Lobby, you may not in fact be a member? Only a small percentage of our subscribers are signed up as full members of the Lobby.

The good news is it only costs 20 bucks and it’s easy to become a member.

Becoming a member of the Victorian Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby will help us continue to provide much needed advocacy and lobbying for our community. Simply fill out the attached form and send it into PO Box 2156, Fitzroy VIC 3065 to become a member. You should also consider becoming an active member of the lobby by getting involved in one of our many working groups. Read more about this at www.vglrl.org.au

If you have any further questions about the lobby please don't hesitate to contact us via email at replies@vglrl.org.au or phone Matt on 0407 523 441.

3. QUEER FILM FESTIVAL SCREENING AND LOBBY PANEL: ‘RAINBOW’S END’

The Lobby, in conjunction with the Melbourne Queer Film festival, is presenting ‘Rainbow’s End’, a German documentary which explores the future of queer activism. It explores the questions: Do we need to keep fighting? Has most discrimination against gay men and lesbians been removed?

Join us for the screening followed by a distinguished panel of speakers including Miranda Stewart (Melbourne Law School), Gerard Brody (VGLRL co-convenor) and Felicity Marlowe (Rainbow Families Council, Love makes a Family convenor).  Richard Watts, editor of MCV, will moderate the Panel.

Details: Sunday 18 March, 2pm, ACMI Cinema at Federation Square

4. LOBBY’S PHOTO PETITION UP AND RUNNING

At the Lobby’s stall at Midsumma Carnival this year, the Lobby invited people to have their photo taken as part of a “Photo Petition”. Participants were photographed with messages such as:

 -  “I’m gay and I vote”

 -  “It’s illegal for us to get married”, and

 -  “Discrimination is not a family value”.

We encourage people to download their photo and send them to state and federal politicians (see links below), along with a message about recognising the equal human rights of gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgender and inter-sex people.

Check out the photo petition photos at www.vglrl.org.au.

5. LOBBY PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS: HELP SPREAD OUR MESSAGE
