Notice is hereby given of a

SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING

of the

VICTORIAN GAY AND LESBIAN RIGHTS LOBBY

Date:           Thursday 15 May 2008

Time:           7.00pm

Venue:           Dante's Fitzroy, 150-156 Gertrude Street Fitzroy

Purpose:           The purpose of this meeting is to approve the following motion made by the Committee of Management at its March 2008 meeting.

Background:

These proposed constitutional amendments allow for the composition of the Committee of Management to more accurately reflect and represent the range of identities now represented by the VGLRL in its Mission, following a 2007 constitutional amendment which formally introduced the Lobby's representation of bisexual, queer and same sex attracted people.

These proposed amendments seek to broaden the scope of identities in the potential composition of the Committee of Management while maintaining the Committee of Management's existing relative gender parity as enshrined in the Constitution.

This proposal will take transitional effect for Committee Members elected or appointed to the 2008/2009 Committee of Management, with full Committee membership elected or appointed according to these provisions in the 2009/2010 Committee year.
